Student Movers in Bradenton, FL: First Apartments, Summer Storage and IMG Academy Families
Student moves here don’t look like the ones in a college town. This city has a boarding school with athletes from dozens of countries, a state college with campuses in three towns and a medical school with no dorms at all. Call +1 (941) 392-6022. Bradenton Mover Line connects you with an independent mover that handles small moves in Manatee County.
This page covers each school, what a student move costs and the lease and storage questions that come up every August and May.
Calls may be recorded. We may be paid when we connect your call. You pay us nothing.

Which Student Move Is Yours?
Most fit one of six patterns.
| Your move | What to ask for | Know this |
|---|---|---|
| A first apartment near SCF or downtown | A small local move | A two-hour minimum is common |
| A furnished room or shared house | Labor only, with your own rental truck | The cheapest way to move a few pieces |
| Medical school at LECOM | A small move to an apartment near Lakewood Ranch | The school has no campus housing |
| An IMG Academy boarder | Shipping or storage, not a truck | Most dorm rooms are shared doubles |
| Summer away from school | Pickup and a storage unit | Climate control matters here |
| Graduating and moving out of state | A small interstate shipment | Shared trucks have weight minimums |
Small jobs are covered on the small moves page. Labor only is on moving labor.
Which Schools Do Students Move Around Here?
Four campuses shape most student moves in this part of the Gulf Coast.
| School | Where | Housing |
|---|---|---|
| IMG Academy | 5650 Bollettieri Boulevard, off 34th Street West | Boarding halls on campus |
| State College of Florida | 5840 26th Street West, plus Lakewood Ranch and Venice | Off-campus rentals |
| LECOM | 5000 Lakewood Ranch Boulevard | Off-campus only |
| USF Sarasota-Manatee and New College | 8350 North Tamiami Trail, at the county line | Atala Hall, for about 200 students |
IMG Academy
IMG is a prep boarding school for grades 6 through 12 and postgraduates. BoardingSchoolReview lists 1,351 students, with 75% living on campus. The campus covers about 600 acres on the southwest side of the city.
State College of Florida
SCF’s fall 2026 classes run August 17 to December 4. Students rent all over the city. ForRent listed 443 rentals near the 26th Street West campus in October 2026, in West Bradenton, Bayshore Gardens, Samoset and Palmetto.
LECOM Bradenton
The Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine enrolled 142 first-year students for 2025 and 2026. Its AACOM profile says LECOM “does not provide campus housing.” Students rent apartments near the Lakewood Ranch campus.
USF Sarasota-Manatee and New College
This one changed in 2026. WUSF reported that the 32-acre campus moved to New College of Florida on July 1, 2026. Current USF students can finish there, and about 1,000 are expected to. Check with your school’s housing office before you plan a move into Atala Hall.
How Do IMG Academy Families Handle Move-In Day?
Most families don’t need a truck. Most boarders share a double room, and the packing list fits in suitcases.
IMG’s student guide sets out the day:
- Arrival times are picked in Teamworks and released by July 15, or July 1 for football.
- Check-in takes about one to two hours, and moving into the room about one more.
- Bring two sets of Twin XL bedding, towels, hangers, laundry bags and a padlock.
- Some kitchen gear is allowed, like kettles. Air fryers and toaster ovens are not.
- No nails, no wall-mounted equipment and no painted walls.
Where student movers Bradenton families call do help:
- Sports gear. Golf bags, bikes and team equipment that won’t fit on a plane.
- A family rental nearby. Parents who lease a condo for the season need a real move.
- Summer storage. Bedding, a mini-fridge and gear held until August.
Read the room rules for your grade before you buy anything. Appliance limits differ by grade level.
How Much Do Student Movers Cost in Bradenton?
About $313 for a one-bedroom apartment if you rent the truck yourself, and about $604 if the mover brings it.
| Job | Published cost | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Labor only, 1-bedroom apartment | $313.25, 2 movers, about 2.3 hours | HireAHelper, county average |
| Labor only, average hourly rate | $73.10 | HireAHelper, county average |
| Two movers and a truck, 2-hour minimum | About $233 | moveBuddha, local average |
| Studio apartment, with truck | $441 | moveBuddha, local average |
| 1-bedroom apartment, with truck | $604 | moveBuddha, local average |
These are averages, not quotes. A third-floor walk-up or a long walk from the parking lot adds time.
How Do Students Cut the Cost?
- Rent the truck and hire labor only. HireAHelper’s figure above doesn’t include the truck.
- Pack before the crew comes. On an hourly job, packing is paid time.
- Take apart IKEA furniture yourself. Bag the screws and tape them to the frame.
- Skip the last days of the month. moveBuddha says rates run 20% to 30% higher at month’s end, on weekends and from May through September.
When Is a Student Move Hardest to Book?
Mid-August and May. SCF’s fall term starts August 17, IMG families arrive in summer and many leases turn over at the same time.
The first and last days of any month are busy too, since many leases end on the last day. Book early for August, and earlier still for a Saturday.
What Should You Do Before You Leave an Apartment?
Protect the deposit. Florida’s rules on this are written into Florida Statute 83.49.
- Give notice in writing. If you leave early or rent month to month, the law calls for at least 7 days’ written notice, with an address where you can be reached.
- Know the deadlines. The landlord has 15 days to return the deposit, or 30 days to send a written claim by certified mail.
- Answer a claim fast. You have 15 days to object after you get the notice.
- Take photos. Shoot every room empty, on move-out day, before you turn in the keys.
Ask your complex about move rules too. Many apartment buildings along Cortez Road and 26th Street West reserve the elevator or a loading spot. This page is not legal advice.
Where Can Students Store Things Over the Summer?
In a climate-controlled unit. A closed garage or a standard unit in a Gulf Coast summer is hard on electronics, books, mattresses and anything with glue in it.
SpareFoot listed local climate-controlled units at these average prices in August 2026:
| Unit | Average monthly price | Holds |
|---|---|---|
| 5 by 5 feet | $20.64 | Boxes, a desk chair and a lamp |
| 5 by 10 feet | $48.28 | A room’s worth of furniture |
Split a 5 by 10 with a roommate and it’s about $24 each a month. Ask the facility what its insurance excludes. Flood and mold are left out of many policies. See climate-controlled storage.

More Questions From Students and Parents
Can a Parent Book the Move From Out of State?
Yes. Most of the planning happens by phone. Give the mover the student’s cell number for move day, and ask how the bill is paid and who signs the paperwork.
Will Movers Take One Item, Like a Mattress or a Desk?
Yes, but you’ll pay the minimum. A two-hour minimum is common, so add any other pieces to the same trip. A new mattress from a store may come with free delivery. Check that first.
How Do LECOM Graduates Move to a Residency Out of State?
As a small interstate shipment. FreightWaves’ 2026 guide says many van lines set a minimum of about 1,000 to 2,500 pounds, so a studio’s worth of furniture can cost as much as a bigger load. Compare a portable container. See interstate movers.
Are Student-Run Moving Crews Legit?
Some are. A crew paid to move household goods in Florida has to register with the state, and the registration number goes on its ads. Ask for it, then check it on the verify a mover page. Student movers Bradenton renters hire off a flyer should pass the same check.
