Movers on Anna Maria Island: Anna Maria, Holmes Beach and Bradenton Beach

Looking for movers Anna Maria Island owners can check before the truck crosses the bridge? Call +1 (941) 392-6022. Bradenton Mover Line connects you with an independent mover that works all three island cities.

The island is 7 miles long, with two drawbridges to the mainland, narrow streets and houses built a full story off the ground. A move here takes more planning than the same move in town.

Calls may be recorded. We may be paid when we connect your call. You pay us nothing.

Do Bradenton Movers Cover Anna Maria, Holmes Beach and Bradenton Beach?

Yes. Movers based in Bradenton and Cortez work the whole island: Anna Maria at the north end, Holmes Beach in the middle and Bradenton Beach at the south end. HireAHelper lists 32 movers that serve Holmes Beach.

That takes in ZIP codes 34216 and 34217, from Bean Point and Pine Avenue down to Bridge Street and Coquina Beach.

Say which city you’re in. Each one has its own rules for trucks and parking.

How Do the Drawbridges and Season Traffic Affect an Island Move?

They put waiting time on an hourly bill. Plan around three things.

Bridge openings. Under a Coast Guard rule published in April 2025, the Anna Maria Island Bridge on Manatee Avenue and the Cortez Bridge on Cortez Road open for boats at a quarter past and a quarter to the hour, from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. A crew that reaches the bridge at 9:14 waits.

Bridge construction. Work on a new Cortez Bridge began in September 2026. ABC7 reported a $123 million project to replace the 1950s drawbridge with a fixed bridge about 65 feet high, with four years of construction. Expect traffic shifts on Cortez Road until it’s done.

Season. From January through April, both bridges and Gulf Drive back up by late morning. Gulf Drive is two lanes, and the free trolley stops along it.

Three habits cut the wait:

  • Book an 8 a.m. start so the truck is on the island before beach traffic
  • Pick Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday
  • Finish loading before 3 p.m., ahead of the afternoon line off the island

Can a Full-Size Moving Truck Park on Your Island Street?

On some streets, no. A 26-foot truck is about 8 feet wide. Many island streets are one lane each way with no curb, and the shoulders are sand or shell.

Ask the mover to look at your street on a satellite map before the estimate. Then settle four things:

  • Truck size. A 16-foot truck fits where a 26-foot truck can’t.
  • A shuttle. The big truck stays on the mainland, and a smaller one runs back and forth. moveBuddha lists shuttle service at $315 to $2,520.
  • The carry. moveBuddha notes extra charges when the truck sits more than 75 feet from the door.
  • The rules. Anna Maria, Holmes Beach and Bradenton Beach each set their own parking rules. Call your city hall and ask what applies to a moving truck on your street.

Never block Gulf Drive. It’s the island’s main road and the trolley route.

How Do Movers Get Furniture Into an Elevated Beach House?

Up the outside stairs, piece by piece. Large items go over the balcony.

Most island homes built or rebuilt under current flood rules have the living floor one story up. That means:

  • Stairs. Count the steps and measure the width and the landing. moveBuddha lists stair fees of $50 to $75 per flight.
  • Hoisting. A sofa or king mattress that won’t make the turn is lifted over the deck railing with straps. Ask if the crew does this and what it costs.
  • The elevator. A home elevator is built for people. Check the weight plate before anyone loads a dresser into it.
  • Take-apart work. Sectionals, bed frames and tables go up in pieces. A split box spring fits where a one-piece king won’t.

Send photos of the stairs and the balcony with your request. Ask for floor runners too. Sand travels in on every trip.

Own a Vacation Rental? When Can Furniture Go In or Out Between Guests?

In the gap between check-out and check-in, or on a night you block off.

That gap is short. With a morning check-out and an afternoon check-in, the crew and the cleaners share a few hours. For anything more than one room, block a night on the calendar.

Rental rules shape the timing. Holmes Beach sets minimum stays by zone. Island Real Estate lists 7 nights in the R-2 through R-4 zones and 30 days in R-1, so most turnovers land on the same day each week. Confirm the current rule with the city before you plan around it.

Ask the mover for three things:

  1. Receiving. New furniture ships to the mover’s warehouse, not your porch.
  2. Assembly and placement. The crew builds it, sets it in the room and takes the boxes away.
  3. Haul-away. Old pieces leave on the same truck for donation or disposal.

Put your property manager on the call. They hold the calendar and the door code. Late summer and fall are the quiet months for a full refit. Watch the storm forecast.

Does an Island Move Cost More Than a Mainland Move?

For movers Anna Maria Island rates match the mainland. The hours are what grow.

moveBuddha puts the Bradenton average at $116 per hour. HireAHelper lists labor-only help in Holmes Beach at about $80 per hour, against about $76 in Bradenton.

What adds costPublished figure
Stairs to a raised home$50 to $75 per flight
Shuttle from a larger truck$315 to $2,520
Condo elevator$50 to $100
May through September, weekends and month-end20% to 30% more

Figures are from moveBuddha’s October 2026 pages. They are published ranges, not quotes.

A worked example: a 2 bedroom move that takes 5 hours in town can run 6 or 7 on the island once a bridge wait, a long carry and a flight of stairs are added.

More Questions About Moving on Anna Maria Island

Which Bridge Will the Truck Use for Your Address?

The closer one, unless traffic says otherwise.

  • Anna Maria and north Holmes Beach. The Anna Maria Island Bridge, on Manatee Avenue.
  • Bradenton Beach and south Holmes Beach. The Cortez Bridge, on Cortez Road.
  • From Longboat Key or Sarasota. The Longboat Pass Bridge at the south tip.

With construction on the Cortez side, ask the movers Anna Maria Island crews you’re comparing which route they plan to take.

Do Island Condos Have Their Own Move Rules?

Yes. Ask the association for the move hours, the elevator booking and the insurance certificate it wants from the mover. Some buildings bar moves on weekends in season.

More is on condo movers.

Can Movers Help While a Storm-Damaged Home Is Repaired?

Yes. A crew can pack what’s left, hold it in storage off the island and bring it back when the work is done.

Hurricanes Helene and Milton hit the island in 2024, and Bradenton Beach took the worst of it. Some owners are still rebuilding. Under FEMA’s 50% rule, a home with repair costs above half the structure’s value has to be raised or rebuilt to current flood rules. That can stretch storage from weeks to a year or more.

Ask for climate-controlled storage on the mainland. Ask your insurer if your policy pays for the pack-out. Storm season runs June 1 to November 30, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Can Movers Bring Furniture Over From Longboat Key?

Yes. The Longboat Pass Bridge links the two islands at Coquina Beach. It’s a short local move, billed by the hour.

That bridge is a drawbridge too. In season, a move between the keys is quicker before 10 a.m. See movers on Longboat Key.
