Moving Companies Within Florida: In-State Movers From Bradenton
Bradenton to Naples is two hours down I-75. Bradenton to Pensacola is about as far as Atlanta. Both are moves inside Florida under one state law, yet they’re priced and scheduled in very different ways. Call +1 (941) 392-6022. Bradenton Mover Line connects you with an independent mover for moves from Manatee County to anywhere in the state.
This page covers the miles, the cost and how fast your things arrive. It also shows how to check moving companies within Florida with the state before you sign.
Calls may be recorded. We may be paid when we connect your call. You pay us nothing.

Is a Move Within Florida Local or Long Distance?
Legally, it’s neither. Florida law has one category: a household move that starts and ends in the state. Chapter 507 of the Florida Statutes covers a move across Manatee Avenue and a move to Key West in the same way.
The split you’ll hear about is a pricing habit. moveBuddha’s October 2026 Florida page puts the line at about 100 miles.
| Under about 100 miles | Over about 100 miles | |
|---|---|---|
| How it’s priced | By the hour | By weight and miles, or one flat figure |
| When it arrives | The same day | The same day or the next |
| Which rules apply | Florida Chapter 507 | Florida Chapter 507 |
Ask each company where it draws that line, since some switch from hourly pricing at 50 miles.
How Far Is It From Bradenton to Other Florida Cities?
Most trips start on I-75. North takes you to Tampa, Ocala and Gainesville. South takes you to Fort Myers and Naples, then across Alligator Alley to Fort Lauderdale and Miami.
| City | Road miles from Bradenton | Main route |
|---|---|---|
| St. Petersburg | About 25 | I-275 over the Skyway |
| Tampa | About 45 | I-75 |
| Fort Myers | About 85 | I-75 south |
| Orlando | About 115 | I-75 to I-4 |
| Naples | About 125 | I-75 south |
| Gainesville | About 170 | I-75 north |
| West Palm Beach | About 190 | SR 70 east |
| Miami | About 230 | I-75 and Alligator Alley |
| Jacksonville | About 250 | I-75 to I-10, or I-4 to I-95 |
| Tallahassee | About 320 | I-75 to I-10 |
| Key West | About 385 | I-75, then US 1 |
| Pensacola | About 510 | I-75 to I-10 |
Miles are approximate.
How Much Do Moving Companies Within Florida Cost?
Short trips cost a few hundred dollars. A move across the state costs a few thousand. moveBuddha’s Florida page lists a statewide average of $116 per hour for moves under 100 miles, with a 2-hour minimum.
| Home size | Under 100 miles | Orlando to Miami, 236 miles |
|---|---|---|
| Studio or 1 bedroom | $436 to $599 | $796 to $3,319 |
| 2 to 3 bedrooms | $957 to $2,189 | $1,384 to $4,057 |
| 4 or more bedrooms | $2,508 and up | $1,763 to $4,953 |
Both columns come from moveBuddha, dated September and October 2026. The Orlando to Miami route is shown because it’s nearly the same distance as Bradenton to Miami. These are published ranges, not quotes for your home.
The same pages put prices 20% to 30% higher from May through September, on weekends and in the last three days of a month. Hurricane season runs June through November. For an August, September or October date, ask about the rebooking policy if a storm closes the roads.
Do Movers Charge by the Hour or a Flat Price for a Move Across Florida?
Both exist. Short moves are billed by the hour, and the clock includes the time on the road. Longer moves are priced by weight and miles, or quoted as one flat figure.
Whichever method the mover uses, you’re owed a total. Florida’s statute defines an estimate as a written document that sets out the total cost and describes how it was figured. An hourly rate alone doesn’t meet that test.
The Florida Attorney General’s moving guide calls binding estimates the better choice, since the price can’t climb after loading. Ask if these are inside the number:
- Fuel, and tolls on the Skyway, the Turnpike or Alligator Alley
- Stairs, which moveBuddha lists at $50 to $75 per flight
- A long carry of more than 75 feet from truck to door
- A shuttle truck, listed at $306 to $2,448, if the big truck can’t reach your street
Will Your Things Arrive the Same Day on a Florida Move?
On a short trip, yes. Tampa, Sarasota, Fort Myers and Orlando are all same-day runs from Bradenton. The crew loads in the morning and unloads that afternoon.
Farther out, plan on two days for a house. moveBuddha says most Orlando to Miami moves finish in one to two days. Miami and Jacksonville are each 230 to 250 miles away, and moveBuddha’s crew chart allows 6 to 8 hours of labor for a three-bedroom home.
Ask three questions:
- Is the truck carrying only your things, or sharing space with another customer?
- If the truck is held overnight, where will it be parked?
- What are the pickup and delivery dates?
Florida law backs you up on the last two. The contract must list the proposed dates of the move and the address of any place your goods will be held along the way.
Who Regulates Moving Companies Within Florida?
The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, known as FDACS. Federal household goods rules apply only when a shipment crosses a state line, so they don’t cover a Bradenton to Miami move.
Under Chapter 507, every mover that handles a household move here must:
- Register with FDACS
- Carry at least $10,000 of cargo liability insurance per shipment, or post a $50,000 bond if it runs two or fewer trucks
- Insure each truck for $50,000 to $300,000, based on its weight
- Cover your goods for no less than 60 cents per pound per item
At that last rate, a 50-pound TV pays $30. Ask what fuller coverage costs.
The Attorney General’s guide notes that Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties have their own mover ordinances on top of state law.
How Do You Check a Florida Mover’s Registration?
Find the number, then look it up.
- Find it. The law requires “Fla. Mover Reg. No.” or “Fla. IM No.” and the number in every ad, in the contract and on the driver’s door of each truck, in letters at least 1.5 inches tall.
- Look it up. Use the FDACS Business Search or call 1-800-HELP-FLA, which is 1-800-435-7352.
- Match it. The company name on the estimate should be the name on the registration.
- Ask about complaints. The Attorney General’s guide says the same phone line will tell you if any are on file.
A moving broker is a different business. It arranges the move and hires a mover to do it. Its ads must say “Fla. Moving Broker Reg. No.” Since 2024, a broker may not give you an estimate at all. Only the mover can.

What Must a Florida Mover Give You in Writing?
A written estimate and contract, before any work starts. Section 507.05 says both must be signed and dated by you and the mover, and must show:
- The mover’s name, phone number and street address
- The date the papers were prepared and the proposed dates of the move
- Your name, the pickup address and the delivery address
- Where your goods will be held, if they’re stored along the way
- An itemized list and the total cost of loading, hauling, unloading and any extra services
- The forms of payment the mover accepts
On payment, the mover must take at least two of these three: cash or a money order, a personal check, and a credit card.
No estimate on paper or by email? Don’t let the crew load.
What Happens When You Call About a Move Within Florida?
- You call +1 (941) 392-6022 and give both cities, your dates and the home size.
- The line connects you with one of the Florida in-state movers that works out of Manatee County.
- They survey your home in person or by video.
- The mover sends the written estimate. Look up its number with the state before you sign or pay.
Bradenton Mover Line hauls nothing and gives no prices. The estimate has to come from the mover.
More Questions About Moving Within Florida
Does a mover need a federal USDOT number for a move inside Florida?
Not to be legal for your move. The federal license for household goods applies when a shipment crosses a state line. Inside Florida, the state registration is what counts.
You’ll still see USDOT numbers on many trucks. The FMCSA lists Florida among the states that require one for commercial trucks used only in-state. It doesn’t replace the Florida IM number.

Is a deposit normal for a Florida move?
A small one, yes. The Attorney General’s guide says reputable movers ask for a small good-faith deposit at signing, and it warns against any company that demands a large deposit or full payment up front.
Chapter 507 sets no cap on deposits. Protect yourself by paying with a credit card, and get the refund terms in the contract.
Is it cheaper to rent a truck for a move within Florida?
In dollars, yes. For a 2 to 3 bedroom home from Orlando to Miami, moveBuddha lists a rental truck at $292 to $578 and full-service movers at $1,384 to $4,057.
Then add what the rental price leaves out. U-Haul rates its 26-foot truck at 8 to 10 miles per gallon, so 230 miles burns about 25 gallons. Tolls, pads and a day of your own lifting come on top.
A middle path is to rent the truck and hire loading and unloading help at each end.
Where do you complain about a Florida mover?
Start with FDACS at 1-800-HELP-FLA. It takes complaints against moving companies within Florida and can fine a mover or pull its registration. The Attorney General’s fraud line is 1-866-966-7226.
If a mover won’t unload after you’ve paid the amount on your signed contract, call local police. State law bars a mover from holding goods once that amount is paid, and it may never hold prescription medicine or children’s things. Refusing an officer’s order to release a shipment is a third-degree felony.
For a damage claim, write to the mover first and keep a copy. Florida in-state movers that ignore a written claim can be reported to FDACS the same way.
