What if Your Town Isn’t on the List?

Call anyway. Cortez, Terra Ceia, Samoset, Whitfield and Duette are all in the county, and they’re short trips for a local crew.

Use the closest page as your guide. Cortez fishing village plans like West Bradenton. Terra Ceia plans like Palmetto. Duette, in the rural northeast, plans like Myakka City.

How Does a Move Change From the Gulf Islands to East County?

The county splits into four kinds of moves. Your address decides which one you’re planning.

The Islands: Anna Maria and Longboat Key

Bridges set the schedule. Homes sit a full story off the ground, so most island moves start with stairs. Streets are narrow, and a large truck can’t always park at the door. Some buildings bar weekend moves in season.

Hurricanes Helene and Milton hit the island in 2024, and some owners are still rebuilding. Ask about storage while the work goes on.

Bradenton, Palmetto and the River

This is the older core of the county: block homes from the 1950s and 1960s, apartments along US 41 and condos near the Riverwalk. Moves here are short in miles. The bill is driven by stairs, parking distance and bridge traffic.

West of 75th Street, canal and bay lots add a long walk from the truck to the door.

The I-75 Corridor: Lakewood Ranch, Parrish and Ellenton

Much of the county’s new construction is here. Brand-new homes come with builder closing dates, gate codes and HOA move hours. Older parks in Ellenton add their own office check-in and lot rules.

Book around the closing, not the calendar. A builder’s date can move twice before the keys show up.

The Rural East: Myakka City and Duette

Miles matter out here. Myakka City is about 28 miles east of downtown Bradenton on SR 70. Dirt roads, gates and long driveways can stop a full-size truck, so crews ask for photos of the road in.

Send a map pin with the address. Rural addresses land in the wrong spot on GPS. Ask movers Manatee County FL ranch owners call how they bill the trip out east.

Which Bridges Slow Down a Move Here?

Six crossings decide most move days here. Two of them open for boats.

Under a Coast Guard rule from April 2025, the Anna Maria Island and Cortez bridges open at a quarter past and a quarter to the hour, from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. A truck that reaches the bridge at 9:14 waits. Ask movers Manatee County FL island owners call which bridge the crew will take, and at what hour.

The river bridges don’t open for boats. Traffic is the wait, and on an hourly job a slow crossing is paid time.

How Much Do Movers Cost Across the County?

About $1,049 for an average local move with a truck, according to HireAHelper’s page for the county. Labor alone averages about $399.

These are averages, not quotes. Among movers Manatee County FL residents hire, a two-mover, two-hour minimum is the common starting point.

Why Does the Same Move Cost More in Some Towns?

Clock time. A crew billed by the hour charges for the trip and for every wait.

  • Islands. A two-bedroom move that takes 5 hours in town can run 6 or 7 on Anna Maria Island, once a bridge wait, a long carry and stairs are added.
  • East County. At $116 an hour, 90 minutes of round-trip travel to Myakka City adds about $174. Ask for a flat travel fee and compare.
  • High-rises. An elevator booked by time slot can leave a crew waiting.

When Is the Busiest Time to Move Here?

Two seasons pull in opposite directions.

Summer is the price peak. moveBuddha reports rates 20% to 30% higher from May through September, on weekends and at the end of each month. Book six to eight weeks ahead.

Winter is the traffic peak. From January through April, seasonal residents fill the roads, and the island bridges back up by late morning. Snowbirds arrive in October and November, so ask early for those weeks. See snowbird moves.

Storm season overlaps both. It runs June 1 to November 30. The National Hurricane Center places most activity between mid-August and mid-October. Ask any mover how it handles a storm delay before you sign.

Does a Move to Sarasota or Tampa Count as Local?

Yes, for billing. moveBuddha counts a move as long distance at 100 miles or more. Sarasota, Tampa and St. Petersburg are all well under that.

Crossing the county line doesn’t change the rate. Travel time does, so ask whether it’s billed as a flat fee or by the clock.

Any move that starts and ends in Florida falls under Florida Statutes Chapter 507. That law requires a signed written estimate before any work starts. To check a mover’s state registration, see verify a mover. For moves out of state, see long distance movers.

What Happens When You Call About a Move?

  1. You call +1 (941) 392-6022 with both addresses and your move date.
  2. You describe the home: size, stairs, elevator and parking.
  3. The line connects you with one of the movers Manatee County FL callers can look up by state registration number.
  4. The mover asks its own questions and gives you a written estimate.

Bradenton Mover Line moves nothing and gives no prices.

More Questions About Moving Here

How Fast Is the County Growing?

Fast. The Census Bureau counted 399,710 residents in 2020 and estimated 468,200 by July 2025. That’s a 17.1% jump in about five years.

The same tables show 86.0% of residents lived in the same house a year earlier. Put the other way, about 1 in 7 moved within a year. And 29.4% of residents are 65 or older, which explains how many downsizing and condo moves crews handle here.

Is Lakewood Ranch in Manatee County or Sarasota County?

Both. The community’s July 2026 fact sheet lists more than 80,000 residents and over 40 villages on 53 square miles, on both sides of the county line.

The line matters on move day for one thing: which county handles your utilities and trash pickup. It doesn’t change what a mover charges.

Which Cities Here Run Their Own Governments?

Six: Bradenton, Palmetto, Anna Maria, Holmes Beach, Bradenton Beach and the Manatee half of Longboat Key. Parrish, Ellenton, Myakka City and the rest are unincorporated.

That changes who you call about street parking, a curbside dumpster or a storage pod in the driveway. Check with the city if you’re inside one. Check with the county if you’re not.

How Far Ahead Should You Book Movers?

Four to six weeks from October through April, and six to eight in summer, per moveBuddha. Add time if a condo board, an HOA or a park office has to approve the move first.
